Chapter 4 Discussion Prompt

In chapter 4, Collins discusses formative assessments in the classroom. Furthermore, this is a topic that Dr. Bice has discussed in length. Collins argues that students “often take grades personally and low marks often confirm student perceptions of themselves.” 

With that in mind, what does formative assessment look like in your classroom? What are the strategies you use for giving feedback in the classroom and is it effective for the students? Do you currently use any of “6 Principles of Effective Feedback” that Collins discusses? If not, how could you begin to implement these into your classroom?
